Jigsaw puzzles are a fun social activity, a great mental exercise, and a fantastic way to spend satisfying hours toward the final goal: completing the puzzle. The many benefits of puzzles include stimulating creativity, relieving stress, and increasing productivity.
Now that you know the amazing benefits, you're probably thinking: "I need to buy a jigsaw puzzle right now!". However, we should let you know with all the fun, hours of challenge might come. There are several tips and tricks that can help you assemble a jigsaw puzzle fast and free of frustration.
We assemble puzzles on a regular basis, here are some expert tips and tricks that will help you complete your puzzle successfully:
1. CHOOSE A WORKSPACE COMPATIBLE WITH THE PUZZLE SIZE
Before starting to put together a jigsaw puzzle, the first thing to decide is: where to place your design. For that, it's a good idea to know the finished puzzle size - that information usually appears in the puzzle box. In addition to the puzzle size, it's important to choose a workspace comfortable and suitable for you. We prefer rooms where you won't be frequently disturbed, that have a flat surface and are the appropriate size for assembling the puzzle.
PRO TIP: You should consider investing in Puzzle Mats if you would like to move your puzzle later.
2. CHOOSE GREAT LIGHTING TO SEE THE PUZZLE IN DETAIL
Great lighting is a must to assemble a puzzle with less frustration - most jigsaw puzzles are full of patterns and colors, which can be tricky if you are looking for a faster assembly. Look for desk lamps to improve the lighting of the environment you will be in while doing your puzzle. Floor lamps are also an option, however, aren't the best since they give shade and don't illuminate as well as table lamps.
PRO TIP: If you're looking for a great desk lamp to put your puzzle together, we prefer the ones that are adjustable so they can be rotated and maneuvered, in case you need a better angle to get a more detailed look at the puzzle.
3. PUT ALL THE PIECES OUT, FLIP THEM PICTURE-SIDE UP, AND SORT BY COLORS & PATTERNS
This step is crucial at the beginning of your puzzling process, so it might require some extra patience. Pick a color and a pattern to start with: work on small matching sections at a time and visualize which area of the puzzle each portion fits. Start sorting the puzzle by edge, middle, & whimsy pieces. It is important to place the middle & edge pieces in different areas, so they don't get mixed up and disturb your process. Whenever you get stuck with the colors and patterns, try to work on the edges: you may use the strategy to start assembling the borders, and then, assemble the center of the puzzle.
PRO TIP: If you've run out of matching color possibilities, start focusing more on the shapes: sometimes the cuts are done in a way to make you think you need to match the color, but the next piece is actually a different puzzle element, with a different color.
4. ENJOY THE PROCESS AND DON'T GIVE UP
If you find yourself stuck and unable to move forward, walk away & take a break! When you come back, you'll probably find that some pieces you've been looking for are the ones you've been staring at unsuccessfully. A fresh set of eyes will always be helpful.
Puzzles come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and difficulty levels and every experience is unique, different, and should be as fun as possible. In addition, the more puzzles you assemble, the more experience you will have, and this process will become easier and easier for you.
PRO TIP: Take a walk around your workspace, look at the puzzle from all angles and you might get a new perspective. It is always fun to find the last few missing pieces!
5. TO MOUNT OR NOT TO MOUNT
Congratulations on finishing your puzzle, you did it! Now, the last decision to make: to mount or not to mount? If you decide not to mount it, you can take the puzzle apart, put it back in the box, and share it with a loved one. If you decide to mount it, it will be a gorgeous piece of wall art for any room.
We hope you enjoyed our tips & tricks, and that they help you keep your puzzling process fun & frustration free. Happy Puzzling!
